Since a few weeks, we rent a 10,000 m² warehouse in Sleidinge (Evergem) to cope with the substantial growth of our logistics activities. A number of customers of the groupage services have been entrusting us with parts of their storage for some time; which is now happening in the opposite direction as well.
For a number of customers, we already do the intermediate storage of goods that are pushed into our groupage network on demand. These activities took place in a warehouse next to the cross-dock platforms at our site in Wondelgem. We are increasingly being asked to take care of full-fledged storage of goods and related logistics activities as well. This evolution resulted in capacity problems in our warehouse. At the same time, the demand for groupage services continued to increase: we had to free up more capacity for cross-dock activities. Thus we decided to move most of our logistics to another location.
In Wondelgem we retain 2,700 m² of storage space for groupage goods. In Sleidinge, a few kilometres from our facilities, we now have 10,000 m² of warehouses on the former Campina site. Under the impetus of our Commercial Director Marc Nijssen, logistics activities are growing rapidly. To such an extent that there is now cross-fertilisation in the opposite direction: we now have logistics customers who also entrust Transuniverse with their groupage shipments.
