Transuniverse has launched a new Solutions Department at its Wondelgem site, focusing on tailor-made chartering and more complex transport flows. This new division perfectly complements the activities of its subsidiary Welpa Trans, which remains specialized in the spot market, while the Solutions Department focuses on more structural solutions. With these complementary chartering activities, Transuniverse is taking its service offering to the next level.
Three years ago, Transuniverse acquired Welpa Trans in Wommelgem to expand its services to chartering. “Through this acquisition, we gained the knowledge and expertise to purchase truck capacity quickly and flexibly on the spot market. This is ideal for supporting our groupage customers with ad hoc requests, full truckloads or special transport where speed is crucial,” explains Traffic Manager Thierry Deltour.
However, Transuniverse has noticed that some customers expect more than just a quick response. They occasionally require more complex or tailor-made solutions. Examples include the transportation of part loads to destinations outside the traditional network or shipments that require additional planning, such as project cargo, oversized goods, works of art, air and sea freight, and more. “For these complex flows, the spot market is less suitable. This is where deeper expertise is needed — expertise we can provide through planned cooperation with Transuniverse’s regular partners,” Deltour continues.
Launch of the ‘Solutions’ Department
To address this demand, the Solutions department has been created. Building on Transuniverse’s international network, it focuses on structural and complex chartering solutions. “In this way, we combine the best of both worlds,” says Deltour. “Welpa Trans remains the fast and flexible partner for the spot market, while the new department offers customized solutions for recurring or more complex transport needs.”
“In doing so, the two departments mutually reinforce each other. This makes us, as a group, more agile and better equipped to offer our customers the most cost-efficient solutions for every additional transport need — alongside groupage, which remains our core strength,” he concludes.
