Purchase Manager T&L
“As an enterprising family business and groupage specialist,
we send fully loaded trucks on the road through our strong B2B partner network
to Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.”
We are creative in finding solutions, with a clear focus on quality results thanks to our knowledge, experience and dedication — always with respect for both internal and external stakeholders.
We are looking for a Purchasing Manager with excellent negotiation skills, capable of operating at management or executive level depending on experience and track record.
Objective:
As Purchasing Manager, you will play a key role in optimising our procurement policy — operationally, tactically, and strategically. You will negotiate at a high level, manage supplier relationships, and work closely with the Operations Director to streamline the procurement process for our locations in Belgium and abroad.
Responsibilities:
Identify needs and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including subcontractors, agents, and branches
Place orders and ensure the organisational side of purchasing runs efficiently
Conduct market research and select suitable suppliers
Request quotes for the supply of services/products
Follow up on framework agreements and SLAs with suppliers (drafted by legal)
Maintain administrative records of clients, suppliers and orders, possibly through an ERP system
Evaluate services/products and supplier performance
Continuously assess and improve the procurement process
Develop sustainable purchasing policy proposals and communicate them to management and internal departments
Report and analyse margins; initiate actions in consultation with the Finance Director when needed
Negotiate prices and close deals within company guidelines (and depending on size, in consultation with Management)
Independently plan and organise your own work
Make autonomous decisions on pricing and deal-making (depending on size, in consultation with management)
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in a similar end-to-end purchasing role — preferably in (groupage) transport
Able to adhere to and support strategic organisational objectives concerning purchasing rates and sector pricing structure
Strong communicator and relationship builder
Proactive and takes initiative
Able to acquire and apply knowledge of internal procedures
Understanding of the competition and their pricing
Strong sales and negotiation techniques
Fluent in Dutch, with excellent written and spoken English and French (with relevant technical terminology) — additional languages are a plus
What We Offer:
In addition to a positive work atmosphere, fun after-work events, an annual teambuilding and staff party, and various well-being initiatives (like winter soup, healthy theme days, …), we offer a competitive salary package tailored to your skills and experience.
