Job discription:
As a Customs Officer, you support the planning departments and ensure that goods reach their destination without delay and in compliance with applicable customs legislation. You play a crucial role in preventing customs-related fines and guaranteeing a smooth flow of goods.
Responsabilities:
- Preparing, checking and processing customs declarations (NCTS, AES, IDMS and EMCS)
- Good knowledge of customs documents, customs tariffs, and customs, excise and VAT legislation
- Full pre- and post-processing of customs files (discharges, permits, supporting documents)
- Making customs declarations available in the ERP system
- Informing and advising customers on customs regulations
- Cooperating with internal departments, freight forwarders and customs agents
- Forwarding and following up assignments to, among others, Customs Romania
- Active knowledge development and continuous training (internal and external)
- Assisting with handover, documentation and process descriptions in case of absence
Competencies and skills:
- At least 2 years of experience in a similar role
- Experience with maritime processes and legislation is a plus
- Strong punctuality and ability to set priorities
- Structured and solution-oriented working style
- Professional communication skills in Dutch, French and English; additional languages are an asset
